That’s a Wrap of Lincoln West End Lights 2024: A Magical Evening of Community Spirit

What a wonderful evening it was! On Friday, 6th December 2024, from 6pm to 9pm, the West End of Lincoln once again transformed into a magical wonderland of light and creativity as residents came together for our annual West End Lights festival.

This year, we were delighted to see more than 60 illuminations spread across our neighbourhood, each one unique and thoughtfully crafted. From dazzling lights to projected films, from garden installations to window displays, the variety and ingenuity of our community never fails to impress. You can explore many of the locations that participated on our interactive map (there were many more!). Also make sure to check out our gallery and social media posts on Facebook and Instagram.

The evening brought together long-time residents and newcomers alike, with families and friends gathering on street corners to marvel at their neighbours’ creations. Despite the winter chill, the warmth of community spirit was evident as people strolled through the streets, sharing moments of wonder and conversation.

We were particularly grateful to The Sycamore for their sponsorship and for creating such a wonderful atmosphere with their outdoor bar and entertainment. St Faith’s Church once again opened their doors to host a fantastic array of activities, including bull riding and wreath making, alongside warming refreshments that were much appreciated on a cold December evening.

Our local businesses truly stepped up to support the community. Special thanks go to Lincoln Park Riding School and Anna’s Place for their brilliant contributions to the evening’s festivities and their unwavering support of our community event.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to every illuminator who contributed to making this year’s event special. Whether you transformed your front window into a cinema screen, created intricate shadow puppets, or crafted light sculptures in your garden, your creativity and effort helped make our West End glow on this dark winter’s night.

Special appreciation also goes to those who offered charitable contributions this year – a new addition to our event that perfectly captured the giving spirit of the season.

What began in 2010 with just a handful of illuminated houses has grown into a cherished local tradition that continues to surprise and delight both residents and visitors. It’s a testament to the unique character of Lincoln’s West End, where ordinary people come together to create something truly extraordinary.

Thank you all for being part of West End Lights 2024. Your participation, whether as an illuminator or visitor, helps keep this grassroots community festival shining bright. We hope to see you all again in 2025.
